Conclusion
In conclusion, PepsiCo has been able to create shared value and improve profits while recognizing the 4 pillars of sustainability. They accomplished this by establishing innovative and sustainable practices within its sourcing strategies, supply chain management, and initiatives in their social corporate responsibility. The company complies with a majority of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards but must elaborate more on its shortcomings to maintain an unbiased and balanced report. However, PepsiCo is constantly progressing as their Performance with a Purpose 2025 Agenda has allowed them to grow throughout its 10 year journey with an average of 8% in net revenue. Although the company does not comply with international sustainable standards, PepsiCo has taken the initiative to formulate its own global sustainable practices by improving local clusters, implementing waste management initiatives, promoting local sourcing, and using greener technological advancements. PepsiCo manages to stay on top of its competitors by pushing healthier, more nutritious foods and beverages to the population. The company believes it should not only generate revenue or sell its products for the benefit of the company; they believe in using the revenue earned to invest in a better environment and developing produce that leads to a healthier society. They recognize societal value in their business as opposed to just economic opportunities.
