Abstract

PepsiCo, is a global leader in the food and beverage industry and one of many leading companies that understands the need of conducting sustainable business for the benefit of the planet and society. The hypothesis for this research project is that the company’s profitability is positively impacted by its emphasis on the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) performance. The case study research method will be used to investigate this hypothesis. The data will be collected from secondary sources including: annual company reports, company sustainability reports, and shadow reports from other sources to obtain unbiased results. The data will then be analyzed according to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines and business strategy theories such as creating shared value.

After collecting and analyzing the data, one may see through our results that
PepsiCo’s profitability has improved as they are able to create shared value while
recognizing the 4 pillars of sustainability in its processes and products.
